Iniziamo da chi siamo / Let's start from who we are

L'ASSOCIAZIONE SUDIN ONLUS è nata nell'agosto 2006 in seguito all'esperienza fatta da un impresa di Basiliano (Udine), la ICOP spa, che nei primi mesi del 2006 ha realizzato, per conto della Protezione Civile Italiana, il Ponte Italia sul fiume Payee nell'area di Rumbek in Sud Sudan. Durante la realizzazione del ponte si è potuta constatare la totale mancanza di persone in grado di svolgere i più comuni mestieri (muratori, falegnami, meccanici, agricoltori, ecc.), e su proposta dei missionari comboniani là operanti, è stato avviato un progetto per la costruzione della prima scuola di formazione professionale della regione per istruire in vari mestieri i giovani sud sudanesi: l'IRENEO DUD VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER.

L'obiettivo dell'associazione è quello di coinvolgere il mondo delle imprese, in collaborazione con la altre entità che abitualmente operano in ambito sociale (onlus, parrocchie, privati, ecc.) in programmi di cooperazione con Paesi del sud del mondo.

The SUDIN ONLUS ASSOCIATION was born in August 2006, after the experience that a company from Basiliano (Province of Udine, Italy) called ICOP spa, lived in the first months of 2006, when it built, on behalf of Italian Civil Protection, the Italia Bridge over the Payee River in the area of Rumbek (South Sudan). While building the bridge, it was verified an absolute lack of presence of workers that would be able to carry out very common professions, such as mason, carpenter, mechanic or farmer. The construction of the first vocational school in the region started on the proposal made by the Comboni Missionaries working there. The aim of the IRENEO DUD VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER is educating young South Sudanese in various professions.

The goal of the Association is to involve the business world, in collaboration with other entities that usually work in the social ambit (nonprofit organizations, parishes, individuals…), in cooperation projects carried out in Southern countries.
